THE LANTERN ARCHIVE / CONDITIONAL CONNECTIONS
Collider Lantern
Knowing one thing can open a path to another.
Connect the archive. Isolate the bell.
Source S must have an active information trail to archive Y, and no active trail to bell X. Tap middle lanterns to observe them, within the observation budget. S, X and Y cannot be observed.
Chain / fork: A → B → C or A ← B → C. Observing the middle lantern blocks this trail.
Collider: A → B ← C. This meeting point is closed unless B or any descendant of B is observed. Then it opens.
Trails may follow arrows either way. Arrowheads matter at meeting points. Observing is conditioning on information; it does not delete arrows.
The graph
Select lanterns below. The diagram shows fixed directed relationships; observed lanterns have amber rings.
